Texas Adaptive Sports and Recreation (TxASR) is a 501c(3) nonprofit located in Austin, Texas dedicated to supporting the inclusion of people with disabilities in sports and recreation programs. Formerly known as the One World Martial Arts Federation (1WMAF), in 2018 leadership determined that the concepts used by the 1WMAF for martial arts should be expanded to other recreational sports in Texas such as yoga, theater, weightlifting, basketball, volleyball, and various other sports offered by member organizations and facilities.
Leadership also expanded the mission of the organization to include these activities:
- continue to operate the 1WMAF as a specific martial arts focused program within TxASR
- provide scholarships to people with disabilities for adaptive programs at member facilities
- provide adaptive equipment and support materials to member facilities
- provide training to prospective members on disability inclusion
- train member facility staff on a variety of disability topics
- provide seminars on inclusive practices to the general public
- convene an annual Veteran’s Day martial arts tournament
- advocate and educate on disability inclusion.
Our mission is to train and support premier sports and recreation programs to fully include people with disabilities.
Our vision is to create a nationwide supported network of superlative inclusive adaptive sports and recreation programs.
